The University of Messina is a strong option for students looking to pursue higher education in Italy in a historic Mediterranean city. Founded in 1548, the university combines centuries of academic tradition with teaching, research, internationalisation, and student opportunities. For Indian and other international students, UniME can be attractive because it offers undergraduate, single-cycle, and postgraduate study options, including a growing selection of English-taught programmes.
Why Choose the University of Messina?
The University of Messina offers an interesting balance between academic development, international exposure, and life in Sicily. Its long history is supported by contemporary research and teaching facilities, while its location gives students access to a distinctive cultural environment.
International students can also benefit from an increasingly international academic environment. English-taught programmes are available at different study levels, while exchange opportunities and international partnerships can add value to the overall student experience.
University of Messina Courses
University of Messina courses cover a broad range of academic disciplines. Students can explore programmes related to business, engineering, science, medicine, health, humanities, social sciences, and other specialised areas. The university offers Bachelor's, Single-Cycle, and Master's degree programmes, with some courses delivered in English for international applicants.
For students interested in business, Business Management is among the English-taught options. The university also offers English-taught opportunities in areas connected with medicine and other disciplines. Medicine and Surgery is a single-cycle programme with nationally regulated admission, and international applicants must follow the applicable entrance requirements and examination rules.
Before selecting a course, students should compare the curriculum, teaching language, academic eligibility, entrance requirements, tuition structure, and career relevance. This approach can help applicants choose a programme that matches their previous education and long-term goals instead of selecting a course only because it is popular.
University of Messina Acceptance Rate
The university of Messina acceptance rate is not generally published as one official percentage covering all programmes and applicants. Admission can depend on the specific degree, academic qualifications, available places, entrance examinations, and programme-level selection rules. Therefore, students should be cautious about websites that provide a single acceptance-rate figure without explaining its source or methodology.
For international applicants, eligibility is particularly important. Applicants need to meet the academic requirements for their selected programme and follow the university's application procedure. Some programmes may have restricted admission or additional tests. For example, access to Medicine and Surgery is subject to national-level admission rules and an entrance examination.
Instead of focusing only on an estimated acceptance rate, applicants should prepare a complete and accurate application. Checking official programme requirements, academic documents, language requirements, deadlines, and selection criteria is more useful for understanding admission prospects.
University of Messina Application Fee
For the 2026/2027 academic year, the University of Messina states that an application fee of €30 is required for submitting up to two applications. The university also explains that after successfully submitting an application in one call, an applicant can submit a second application in a later call without paying the fee again.
Applicants should check the official admissions page before submitting their application because fees and procedures can be updated for a new academic year. The application fee is separate from tuition and other costs connected with studying and living in Italy.
Non-EU applicants should follow the university's specific procedure for international students.
