Holidays UAE: Discover Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Beyond

A few years back, most people treated the UAE as a layover—somewhere to break up a longer flight east, maybe grab a night in a fancy hotel before moving on. That's not really the case anymore. At Tripsira, we've watched holidays UAE turn into a proper destination in its own right, and honestly, once you look at what's actually on offer, it makes sense.

Seven-hour flight from most UK airports. Reliable sun for the better part of the year. Two very different cities within ninety minutes of each other, plus a coastline most visitors never even get to. This piece is about what to actually do with a UAE trip once you're there—Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and a couple of places worth knowing about beyond them.

Why the UAE Holidays Have Caught On

There's no single reason holidays UAE took off the way they did. It's more that a handful of things lined up at once. The flight time is short enough that you're not losing a day to travel. The infrastructure is genuinely easy to deal with—metro, taxis, signage in English—which matters more than people expect on a first trip somewhere unfamiliar. And the weather does most of the selling on its own; nine months of the year, you can plan a beach day and trust it'll happen.

None of that's new information exactly, but it adds up. People aren't booking the UAE because one thing stood out. They're booking it because almost nothing about the trip goes wrong.

Dubai First, Usually

Most holidays UAE start in Dubai, and there's a reason for that too—it's the loud one. The Burj Khalifa is still the thing everyone photographs, and going up to the observation deck at sunset is worth the ticket price even if you've seen a hundred pictures of it already. The Dubai Mall sits at its base, which sounds like a footnote until you realize it has an aquarium built into one wall and an ice rink downstairs.

What surprises a lot of first-time visitors is the older part of the city. Al Fahidi, down by the Creek, still has the wind-tower buildings and narrow lanes you'd expect from a much smaller, older place—and an abra ride across the water costs next to nothing. It's a strange contrast to spend a morning there and an afternoon under the Burj Khalifa, but that contrast is sort of the whole appeal.

A desert safari tends to get booked into most itineraries too, and for once the hype is earned. Dune bashing in a 4x4 late afternoon, then dinner outdoors as the light goes—it's touristy, sure, but it's touristy for a reason.

Abu Dhabi Slows Things Down

If Dubai is the loud sibling, Abu Dhabi is the one that actually wants to talk to you. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the obvious stop, and it deserves to be—white marble, gold detailing, a carpet the size of a football pitch, and it's free to walk through. Give it more time than you think you'll need.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is worth the detour as well, less for any single piece inside and more for the building itself—that perforated dome scatters light across the floor in a way photos never quite capture. Families tend to gravitate toward Yas Island instead, where Ferrari World and the waterpark next door soak up a full day without much effort.

A lot of holidays UAE itineraries now split time roughly evenly between the two cities. The drive between them is short enough that it doesn't feel like a second trip—more like changing the channel.

The Bits Most People Skip

Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah don't get mentioned nearly as often, which is partly why they're worth mentioning. RAK has mountains, genuinely, and the Jais Sky Tour zipline up there is the longest in the world if that sort of thing appeals to you. The beaches are quieter too—less built-up than Jumeirah, fewer people.

Fujairah sits on the other coast entirely, facing the Gulf of Oman, and the diving there is noticeably better than anything on the Dubai side. Neither place pulls the crowds Dubai or Abu Dhabi does, which is exactly the point if you've already done the main two and want something that doesn't feel quite so scripted.

Booking Holidays UAE Through Tripsira

Splitting a trip across two or three emirates sounds simple until you're the one booking three separate hotels and working out transfer times between them. That's the part Tripsira tends to take off people's plates—building an itinerary that actually connects Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and wherever else into one trip instead of three disconnected bookings.

Tripsira works directly with hotels and airlines across the UAE, which usually means better rates than booking each piece separately would get you. If the plan is a proper multi-city trip through the Emirates and the idea of coordinating it all yourself sounds tedious, that's really what Tripsira is there for.

Packages, All-Inclusive Options and Paying It Off

Not everyone wants to build a trip from scratch, and that's fair—holiday packages exist for exactly that reason. Bundle the flights, the hotel, and sometimes the transfers into one price, and the whole thing gets easier to budget for. All-inclusive UAE holidays have picked up in popularity too, particularly with families who'd rather know the food and activities are already covered than watch the costs creep up once they're there.

Holiday packages in UK travel generally have moved on from the rigid, everyone-gets-the-same-deal format they used to run on. Now it's more common to find something built around what you actually want—a city split, a resort-only stay, whatever fits.

Money's obviously part of the decision too. Travel and pay later has become a normal option rather than a niche one, letting people book now and spread the cost after. A payment plan for flights—often marketed as fly now pay later—breaks the total into monthly installments instead of one hit upfront. Pay monthly flights and EMI flight setups work along similar lines, and they've made booking a trip like this far less of a financial gamble than it used to be. If the route involves flying into one emirate and out of another, it's also worth asking about multi-city flights rather than doubling back on yourself.

When to Actually Go

November through March is the sweet spot—warm days, cooler evenings, and nothing that makes you want to stay indoors. Summer (June to August) gets genuinely hot, uncomfortably so for a lot of people, but hotel prices drop enough that some travellers find it worth the trade-off, especially if the plan involves more pool time than walking around outside.

Book a few months out if you're aiming for peak season. Hotels in Dubai and around Yas Island fill up faster than people expect.

Planning Your Holidays UAE

There's a lot packed into a relatively small stretch of coastline—futuristic skyline in one city, genuine heritage in the next, desert and diving if you want to go further. Whichever combination you land on, holidays UAE tend to deliver on what they promise, which isn't something every destination can say.

If working out the logistics isn't how you want to spend your planning time, Tripsira can put the itinerary together—multiple cities, the right package, and a payment plan if that makes the decision easier. The trip's more accessible than it's ever been. The only real question left is where to start.
