It's been a roller coaster in the IPL 2026 season ridden with nerve shattering finishes, gems of comebacks, and brilliant individual brilliance; but it's summarising to an electric knockout of Gujarat Titans vs Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2. So it's a really big deal. Neutrophils win and you're in the final. If you do not lose, then your season is over. Simple as that.
No one can call it any weirder, as the win probability is given as 52% for the Rajasthan Royals and 48% for the Gujarat Titans. Both teams don't need to know, it's a 'man's toss' with a cricket bat.
The Road That Brought Them Here
Gujarat Titans had a league stage from the gods with their best record in the league with 9 out of 14 wins. They refused to let go of steam in Qualifier 1 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but did not get to reap the rewards of that match as they ended up heading to Qualifier 2 once more for a chance at victory. GT have made monumental fortunes as a team this season — they seemed to have slipped up in the middle of it, but changed their stroke play then and went on to record 229+ scores in consecutive innings. Once this team starts clicking, they’re really championing backs.
Rajasthan Royals' journey was more bumpy. Their blood was renewed in the last over versus Mumbai Indians while they held onto the life-saving win. They then faced the grueling Eliminator in front of Sunrisers Hyderabad, following Julie to the flying clouds to secure their spot here. RR are NOT a team that does things easy, they're a team that does things!
A battle in the trenches: Bowling
Archer continues to pose a huge threat for Rajasthan Royals. Archer has now had to replace the TV host Shubman Gill three times in six matches against the GT in the Annual IPL 2026 — and he could replace it yet again as soon as the second over of this game. But Archer will put a lot of pressure on the batting order of GT if he can get Gill early.
Stars to Watch
Shubman Gill : He has impressed his team this season. He is irreplaceable in knockout cricket as he can hit an innings on pace and prove really effective when he has to hit back. He'll have to guard himself from Archer but if he sprints down the Powerplay GT's chase – which is, let's be honest, the total – will be built around him.
Buttler : One of the most deadly batters on his day in T20 cricket. Buttler can add an X-factor to GT's middle order that can turn the tide of a game in a single over.
Rashid Khan (GT) : Remains one of the maximum Y/p bowlers in T20 cricket. During a high-pressure knockout on the night, you can be sure that Rashid is going to play a vital role in GT's bowling.
Donovan Ferreira (RR) : His strike rate in the death is the third highest after hitting more than 30 balls compared with everyone who has confronted at least 30 balls in the death this season and he tops RR's six hitters death fielder leaderboard. Is the type of player who can come in and dominate a match in the last four overs.
Dhruv Jurel (RR) : Cora has come on excellently and consistently this season with three fifties to his name. Knockout cricket, a player with match-winning fifty is a gold.
Venue – New Chandigarh
It is an award winning, but comparatively newer stadium, called the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. The crowd is expected to be packed to capacity and under the lights, making for an electric atmosphere for anyone who will be present to inspire themselves to be a hero, and to challenge nerves.
Conclusion
GT has a well-rounded team and has experience. RR are a team that already beat the odds this week and have the momentum going this time.
However, if there is one thing that the IPL Match has taught us it is that it's always the chase of 22 yards of cut grass with two teams that have everything on the table rather than the numbers and the statisticians.
This is the final day of the contest. Don't miss it.
